DHAAAK’ REVIEW

The Dhaaak (UA) of King Films International chronicles the courageous guy Surya (Mohd. Saleem Mullanavar), who confronts the bad men with unassuming grace. Rani (Sheena Shahabadi) makes Surya fall in love, but her family objects to the relationship.

Anees Barudwale has penned a work that hardly even seems original. The narrative follows the road of least deviation so that nothing in it grabs the audience. It's amazing how predictable his writing is; someone really paid money for this drama. Since similar situations have been witnessed in many previous movies, the procedures are so hackneyed that the viewer really feels distanced from the drama. If the romance is insensitive, the action is lackluster. Emotions are clearly absent from everything. The dialogues of Nisar Akhtar are not very successful.

No hero material is Mohd. Saleem Mullanavar, as Surya. The fact that he doesn't appear like a hero and also the mediocre screenplay lessen the effect even if he attempts to execute with all the conviction at his command. Sheena Shahabadi doesn't really shine as Rani. Pradeep Rawat is Prem Kumar, average archer. Avinash Wadhawan is so quiet he has no effect. Ruslaan Mumtaz offers standard assistance. Vaishnavi Macdonald is passable. Hemant Choudhary passes muster. Liyakat Nasir is not very outstanding. Rajendra Shisatkar is doing OK. Others hardly make passable.

Direction of Anees Barudwale falls short. Music (Vardhan Singh, Meet Handa and Shahjahan Shaikh (Sagar) is flat. Sahil Sultanpudi, Rishi Azaad, Ahmed Husain Siddiqui's lyrics are not worth celebrating. Songs by Lollypop Pradhan and Imran Malgunkar have boring picturues. The background music of Vardhan Singh is functioning. There is scarcely worth discussing Mukesh Sharma's camerawork. Choreographed by Javed Shaikh, action and stunt sequences lack excitement. The art direction of Sunil Singh is barely adequate. The editing by Shadab Memon and Irfan Ishak is slack.
