FILM REVIEW: VIJAY 69’

Vijay 69 is a film produced by Netflix and YRF Entertainment. It tells the narrative of a guy named Vijay Mathew, who is 69 years old and is played by Anupam Kher. Vijay Mathew comes to the realization that he does not have many accomplishments to his name, which may be remembered after he has passed away. Since swimming has always been his passion, the only individuals he has ever taught to swim are members of the neighborhood club. And now, at the age of 69, he makes the decision to do something really amazing by taking part in a triathlon and, as a result, becoming the oldest man to finish the race. Contrary to the expectations of his family and friends, he begins to exercise in walking and cycling in order to achieve this goal. Kumar, played by Vrajesh Hirje, serves as his coach until he becomes involved in a scandal, which ultimately leads to the departure of both the coach and the sponsor associated with him. Nevertheless, Aditya, who is 18 years old and is played by Mihir Ahuja, takes it upon himself to now train Vijay. His girlfriend, Malti, who is played by Ketika Sharma, is doing her lot to spread positive things about Vijay. In addition, Fali, who is played by Chunkey Panday and is a close friend of Vijay, does all that is within his power to make sure that Vijay is able to finish the triathlon. However, at the very last second, he no longer qualifies. Afterwards, what are the effects? Is Vijay capable of taking part in the triathlon and finishing it altogether?

Despite the fact that Akshay Roy has written the tale, it seems to be forced at various times, despite the fact that it may be sincere. The script written by Akshay Roy is really interesting, particularly in the first half of the film. The post-interval component seems to be handy, and as a result, it looks to lose some of its significant influence. As the second part of the drama progresses, it also becomes repetitious. There are moments when it seems as if Roy did not want to miss any chance to appeal to the senses, and as a result, he incorporated every trick that he had in his arsenal. The dialogues provided by Akshay Roy, together with the supplementary dialogues provided by Abbas Tyrewala, are hilarious.

Currently, Anupam Kher is playing the part of Vijay Mathew. Chunkey Panday's portrayal of Fali is really accurate. When it comes to Aditya, Mihir Ahuja is a standout. In her role as Mrs. Bakshi, Guddi Maruti is a charming character. As the coach Kumar, Vrajesh Hirjee performs an excellent job. In the role of the cancer sufferer, Kunal Vijayakar is an ideal choice. While playing the role of Deeksha, the daughter of Vijay Mathew, Sulagna Panigrahi had her moments. Ravish Desai is a suitable choice to play the part of Abhimanyu, Vijay's son-in-law. Dharmendra Gohil does an excellent job portraying Aditya's father, who is manipulative. The character of the cunning journalist is one that Saanand Verma lives out. Ranjit Kumar, Vijay's buddy, is played by Paritosh Sand, who does a wonderful job in the part he plays. Ketika Sharma is a pleasant choice to play Malti, Aditya's sweetheart. Pawan Chopra (as Rakesh), Ekavali (as Vijay Mathew’s wife), Namit Khanna (as the priest), Ayan Hasan Ali Khan (as Akhil), Gyan Prakash (as Vineet), Raj Sharma (as Joginder), Adrija Sinha (as YouTuber Ruhi), Jiten Mukhi (as the CEO of Boot Inc., the sponsors), Pranay Singh (as Bunty), Purab Mody (as Rohit), Ashwin Mushran (as Jaag), Jacqueline Fernandez (as Sunny), Padmini Sardesai (as Mrs. Joshi), Abhay Joshi (as Sunil Saxena), Anil Chandnani (as the uncle in the gymkhana), Agasthya Shanker (as minister Goenka), and Rajan Kavatra, Masood Akhtar, Sharmila Goenka and Girish Thapar (all four as the triathlon association committee members) lend decent support.

In terms of directing, Akshay Roy is decent. The background music that Gaurav Chatterji used is good. One of Sahil Bhardwaj's strengths is his cinematography. The moments of action and stunts that Sunil Rodrigues does are effective. The production designing shown by Meenal Agarwal is appropriate. The editing done by Manas Mittal is of a satisfactory quality.
