Director Siddharth P Malhotra has confirmed that the principal leads for his film about Meena Kumari and filmmaker Kamal Amrohi have been finalised, although their identities are being kept secret for now. The project will explore the relationship between two defining figures of Hindi cinema.

Casting Meena Kumari Is an Extraordinary Challenge

Few roles in a Hindi film biopic carry this level of expectation.

Meena Kumari is remembered not simply as a star but as one of Indian cinema's defining dramatic performers. Recreating her public image without reducing her to familiar tragedy will require an actor capable of handling both her screen persona and private complexity.

The same challenge applies to Kamal Amrohi. Their relationship intersects with creativity, marriage, ambition and the history of films including Pakeezah.
