Marco (Dubbed) – Film Review

ree

Cubes Entertainments’ Marco (dubbed from Malayalam; A) is a violent revenge drama that caters to action-loving masses but alienates wider audiences.

Story & Screenplay

Marco (Unni Mukundan) swears vengeance against a business tycoon’s son who kills a member of his family. Once he takes the oath, nothing can stop his violent rampage.Haneef Adeni’s story is routine, driven by a single-track revenge narrative. The screenplay relies heavily on excessive violence, gore, and bloodshed, which will repel family and women viewers. While die-hard action fans may enjoy the unrelenting pace, monotony creeps in due to lack of subplots or emotional layering. Dialogues are functional.

Performances & Technicals

Unni Mukundan delivers a fiery, convincing performance as Marco, excelling in action scenes. Yukti Thareja is wasted in a negligible role. Kabir Duhan Singh, Rahul Dev, Jagadish, Anson Paul, Jayaprakash, and others provide able support, while Sudev Nair and Vinayakan leave a strong impression.Adeni’s direction is taut and impactful in staging action but lacks depth in drama. Ravi Basrur’s songs are average; the background score, though loud, adds punch in places. Chandru Selvaraj’s cinematography is excellent, Kalai Kingson’s action choreography is raw and stomach-churning, while Shameer Muhammed’s editing is sharp.

Verdict

Marco is high on action but low on novelty. The Hindi dubbed version has very bleak prospects due to zero awareness and limited connect with family audiences.
