Behind the work

Suyash Pachauri is a filmmaker, director, writer and film producer. Through his production banner, Stellar Universe Productions, he develops stories for the screen and works across film production and related projects. His projects and filmography bring those credits together in one place.

His editorial work reflects an interest in cinema, television, culture and subjects that connect audiences across borders. He writes under Suyash Pachauri Writes, his personal writing identity and platform, which also has a presence on Facebook and Instagram.

About my life

Mumbai roots and early years

Suyash Pachauri was born in Mumbai, grew up in Delhi and has family roots in Uttar Pradesh. These connections to different cities and communities form an important part of his personal story. The early loss of his parents brought difficult responsibilities into his life; his journey since then has been shaped by persistence, work and a continuing interest in people and their stories.

Education and the move towards filmmaking

He studied at Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University in Agra and later pursued training in film direction at Whistling Woods International. As his career developed, he continued building his understanding of direction, storytelling and editing. His professional associations include the Indian Film and Television Directors’ Association (IFTDA) and the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE).

First job: Priya Gold (2004)

His professional journey began with an executive role at Priya Gold Pvt. Ltd. in 2004. This first job was an early chapter in a working life that would later span institutional service, public relations, events and cinema.

BAPS and Akshardham (2005–2016)

From 2005 to 2016, he served BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha at Swaminarayan Akshardham, New Delhi, as a Public Relations and Administration Executive. He led PR coordination for distinguished visits, including planning, hospitality, media liaison and coordination with visiting delegations. During the Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games, he worked within the Akshardham PR and hospitality team as the campus welcomed athletes and officials. BAPS records the Queen’s Baton visit on 2 October and visits by more than 1,200 athletes and officials during the Games; Saina Nehwal and Kashyap Parupalli also visited after their medals. These event records document the campus activities, while the description of Suyash’s own role is based on his account. During his eleven-year tenure, the New Delhi campus welcomed President A. P. J. Abdul Kalam and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh (2005), business leader Mukesh Ambani (2005), Armenian Catholicos Karekin II (2007), Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper (2009), President Pratibha Patil (2012), Boris Johnson as Mayor of London (2012), and Prince Charles and Camilla, then Prince and Duchess of Cornwall (2013). Suyash also recalls personally providing hospitality to Narendra Modi, then Chief Minister of Gujarat, at the New Delhi campus. These are selected publicly documented visits; Suyash’s account of his individual responsibilities and this personal recollection come from his firsthand professional experience.

Shortly after Akshardham’s inauguration, Srichand P. Hinduja of the Hinduja Group, whose businesses include Ashok Leyland, celebrated his 70th birthday there in December 2005 with his family and hundreds of guests from business and public life. Rishi Kapoor was among those present. Suyash recalls personally helping with hospitality for the gathering and meeting Kapoor during the celebration. The event and Kapoor’s presence were reported at the time; Suyash’s role and meeting are his firsthand recollections.

Among the visits Suyash remembers most vividly was a 2006 visit connected with Amar Singh’s birthday celebrations. He recalls personally extending hospitality and spending time with Amitabh Bachchan; his mother, Teji Bachchan; Jaya Bachchan; Abhishek Bachchan; Shweta Bachchan and the family’s grandchildren; as well as Amar Singh and his wife, Jaya Prada and Tina Ambani (formerly Tina Munim). This recollection is drawn from Suyash’s firsthand account of his work at Akshardham.

Suyash also remembers a close personal bond with the late Kamla Advani, wife of Lal Krishna Advani. These named visits are only a selection of the many notable figures from India and around the world he welcomed and assisted during his years in public relations and hospitality.

Returning to Mumbai (2017–present)

Returning to Mumbai in 2017 connected his roots with a new professional direction. He spent around five years working in public relations administration and event planning for celebrities, sportspersons and television programmes. Through this work, he developed relationships across the industry and gained practical experience of the organisation and collaboration behind public events and screen projects.

That experience became the foundation for his transition into writing, direction and film production. His longstanding association with the Nadiadwala Brothers is also part of this professional journey.

Production, film business and creative contribution

As the founder of Stellar Universe Productions, he brings together story development, filmmaking and the business of bringing films to audiences. His work includes the executive producer credit on Karma Strikes, alongside writing, directing and producing projects presented in his filmography.

His contribution also extends to producer-level work in acquisition, distribution and release across India and other Asian markets. By helping completed films connect with commercial partners and reach new territories, he has contributed to the films’ wider release and received recognition through the production companies’ credits. A filmmaker’s approach to writing

Alongside his screen work, he writes about films, television, culture and subjects beyond cinema. His personal writing platform and two publication brands give these interests a dedicated home, combining the experience of working in film with the perspective of a reviewer and writer.
