Story & Screenplay

Hisaab Barabar tells the story of Radhe (R. Madhavan), a whistle-blower who sets out to expose a bank for fraudulently deducting ₹27.50 from every customer’s account under the guise of service charges. To protect their interests, the bank owners Micky Mehta (Neil Nitin Mukesh) and Dayal (Manu Rishi Chadha) frame Radhe in a false case, subjecting him and his young son to immense hardships. Despite this, Radhe remains determined to bring the truth out and secure justice for the people.

The concept holds promise, but Ritesh Shastri’s story feels more suited for a television serial than a feature film. The screenplay by Ashwni Dhir and Purva Naresh (with contributions from Shastri and Dolphy Fernandes) is stretched thin and loses grip midway, making the narrative less engaging. Dialogues too fail to leave a strong impact.

Performances

  • R. Madhavan delivers a sincere and convincing performance as Radhe.

  • Neil Nitin Mukesh is effective as the manipulative Micky Mehta.

  • Manu Rishi Chadha plays Dayal with ease.

  • Kirti Kulhari impresses in her brief role as sub-inspector Poonam Subhash.

  • Shaunak Duggal has his moments as Radhe’s son, Mannu.

  • Ishtiyak Khan stands out in a small part as a bank employee. The rest of the cast ranges from adequate to passable, with no major standout beyond the leads.

Technical Aspects

  • Direction: Ashwni Dhir’s handling is routine, lacking freshness.

  • Music: Aman Pant’s songs and background score don’t add much to the film.

  • Lyrics: (Ashwni Dhir, Akhil Tiwari, Barbie Rajput) – average.

  • Cinematography: Santosh Thundiyil’s camerawork is eye-catching.

  • Editing: Manan Sagar keeps it fairly sharp, though the screenplay’s slackness shows.

  • Action: Siraj Sayed’s stunt work is routine.

  • Production Design: Laxmi Keluskar – functional.

Verdict

Hisaab Barabar is a well-meaning film with a strong lead performance by R. Madhavan, but its weak story foundation and stretched screenplay make it an ordinary cinematic experience. It struggles to maintain audience interest and is unlikely to find wide appreciation.
