FILM REVIEW: Mr. & Mrs. Mahi

FILM REVIEW: Mr. & Mrs. Mahi (2024)

The story of the film begins with a middle-class family of Rajasthan consisting of Mahendra Agarwal (Rajkummar Rao) and Mahima (Janhvi Kapoor). Mahima, while living with the family, suppresses her dreams and aims in life and does whatever her parents say. Mahendra wants to fulfill his dream of becoming a cricketer since childhood. Mahima is also very interested in cricket since childhood and wanted to become a cricketer, but her parents did not give her a single chance to fulfill her dream and asked her to study to become a doctor. There was one quality in Mahendra's family that Mahendra's father (Kumud Mishra) definitely gave Mahendra a chance to fulfill his dream.

But Mahendra failed to fulfill his dream. He could not make his cricket team win at the state level. As a result, he was dropped from the team and was not selected for the final match. He tells his father in disappointment that he could not perform well and was not selected. I will definitely do it by working hard next year.

Then Mahendra's father tells him that I gave you a chance. You could not use that opportunity properly. Now sit across the shop from tomorrow. Mahendra's father always used to compare Mahendra with his elder brother who is in the business of acting, modeling and brand endorsement.

Mahendra's mother (Zarina Wahab) always supports Mahendra. In the outline of the story, a very important character is Rajesh Sharma who is Mahendra's cricket coach. Mahendra's father is in the business of cricket related items, from cricket kits to everything else. Just like Mishra ji and Mahendra's coach have a lot of mutual understanding for their own prospects with each other.

Mahendra's dreams are not fulfilled yet, but his family members get him married asap possible to Jahnavi Kapoor. Initially, Mahendra does not know that his wife Jahnavi talks to him and he realises that she also likes playing cricket as much as Mahendra does. Then, Mahendra starts dreaming about Mahima and becomes her coach. through her success to see himself as successful person.

The story moves forward from there. There are many ups and downs in the film. The first half is fine to a great extent but the second half is very weak and slow. You will not be able to enjoy the film in true sense. Because many films have been made on the topic of cricket. In which mostly similar movies like women’s orientated Shabash Mithu, Ghoomer, and many other films, the film is not able to concentrate the audience to a great extent. Only a brief description of the film can be given. You can go to the cinema halls to watch the full film.

Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor have played their roles very well in the film. Kumud Mishra, Rajesh Sharma and Zarina Wahab have also played their roles very well too. The shooting of this film was done in Jharkhand. This film can be watched once. How much impact the film will have on the audience will be known from the first day itself.

The film is directed by Sharan Singh. Which is quite good and the audience will definitely like the pairing of Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor. The screenplay and script dialogue of the film has been done by Sharan Sharma and Nikhil Mehrotra. This film will be seen in cinemas on 31 May 2024 under the banner of Karan Johar's Dharma Production. The duration of the film is only 2 hours and 19 minutes.

Maybe the film can also get the hype of T20 cricket world cup because this film is releasing in cinema theatres a week before the start of T20 World Cup 2024.
