Hashtag Tadev Lagnam explores the lives of two mature individuals who have remained single well into their late 30s.

Athashri Mahajan (Subodh Bhave), a 40-year-old Marathi professor, is finally ready to settle down. Gayatri (Tejashri Pradhan), almost 40 herself, has resolved against marriage. A chance matrimonial meeting between the two changes the course of their lives. While Athashri explains why he has remained unmarried, Gayatri initially chooses friendship, only to grow more impressed by him over time. What compels her to reject marriage in the first place? Why does Athashri feel the urgency to marry now? Do their paths converge?

The story (Anand Dilip Gokhale and Saee Zende) isn’t novel, and the screenplay is predictable. While the premise holds promise, the drama largely treads on familiar ground, failing to fully grip the audience. Niranjan Parandkar’s dialogues, however, are impactful.

Performances:

  • Subodh Bhave is excellent as Athashri, lending sincerity to his role.

  • Tejashri Pradhan delivers a graceful performance as Gayatri.

  • The supporting cast (Manasi Magikar, Pradeep Welankar, Archana Nipankar, Keya Ingle, etc.) is serviceable, with none leaving a lasting impact.

Technical Aspects:Anand Dilip Gokhale’s direction is passable but lacks freshness. Pankaj Padghan’s music is decent, with Nakarghanta standing out, while Saglyancha Photo is average. Lyrics by Kshitij Patwardhan and Mandar Cholkar are thoughtful. The cinematography (Vijay Mishra) and background score are adequate. Editing by Rajesh Rao is neat.

Verdict: Hashtag Tadev Lagnam is a routine family drama with predictable beats. At best, it makes for a one-time watch.
