Film Review: Andaaz 2

ree

Banner: Shree Krishna International

Genre: Romantic Drama (UA)

Story & Screenplay

Andaaz 2 continues the love story from the first Andaaz film. Aarav (Aayush Kumar) is an aspiring singer in a struggling band with friends Tony (Srikant Maski) and Ehsaan (Parmarth Singh). He falls in love with Alisha (Aakansha), the younger sister of famed singer Priyanka (Natasha Fernandez). When Priyanka discovers Aarav’s love for Alisha, she cancels his contract, forcing him to restart his career while dealing with family and financial crises.

The story, co-written by Suneel Darshan, is routine and offers no novelty. The love triangle feels hackneyed and fails to sustain interest. The screenplay, with additional work by Dr. Dipan Bhatt, is even weaker, turning the narrative into a half-hearted mix of action and family drama, with the romance losing prominence. Emotional beats, such as the family struggles, fail to make an impact, and the climax lacks resonance. Dialogues by Suneel Darshan and Parasnath Gupta, supplemented by Sourabh Ratnu and Preeti Mamgain, are only marginally better than the story itself.

Performances

  • Aayush Kumar delivers a very ordinary debut as Aarav.

  • Aakansha is so-so in her role as Alisha.

  • Natasha Fernandez is unimpressive as Priyanka.

  • Srikant Maski is earnest but unremarkable, while Parmarth Singh is average.

  • Neetu Pandey is sincere as Aarav’s mother; Sanjay Mehandiratta is routine as his father.

  • Puja Sharma, Dolly Bindra, Jeetu Verma, Bharat Bhatia, and others deliver serviceable but unmemorable performances.

Overall, the cast fails to elevate the thin and uninspired material.

Direction & Technical Aspects

  • Suneel Darshan’s direction is below par, unable to engage or entertain the audience.

  • Music by Nadeem is the film’s saving grace; the songs are tuneful and melodious.

  • Lyrics by Sameer are competent.

  • Choreography by Raju Khan is average.

  • Background score by Chander Harilal Makwana is routine.

  • Cinematography by Chetan Dholi is adequate.

  • Action and stunts by Heera Yadav lack energy.

  • Editing by Kaushik Chakraborty could have been sharper to improve pacing.

Final Verdict

Andaaz 2 is a non-starter. The lack of originality in the story, weak screenplay, and underwhelming performances prevent it from leaving an impression. The only bright spot is the music, but it is not enough to salvage the film. It will likely go unnoticed at the box office.
