Film Review: The Rabbit House

ree

Geetai Productions’ The Rabbit House (UA) is a horror drama with a premise that intrigues but falters in execution.

Story & Screenplay

A newly-wed couple checks into a Himachal Pradesh house with 16 doors. Soon, the wife goes missing, making the husband the prime suspect. As the investigation unfolds, the sinister secrets of the house come to light, along with the revelation that the husband suffers from OCD. While Vaibhav Kulkarni’s story is fairly interesting, it loses momentum at key points. The screenplay manages to deliver some chills but also falls back on predictable twists. The climax is unconvincing, and Kulkarni’s dialogues are routine.

Performances & Technicals

Amit Riyaan does fairly well in the lead role, while Karishma, Padmanabh Gaikwad, and Suresh Kumbhar offer average support. Gagan Pradeep and Purva make their presence felt, though Sujata Mogal is ordinary. Others fit their parts adequately.

Kulkarni’s direction is decent, his editing sharp, and the background score effective, though Padmanabh Gaikwad’s music is routine. Camerawork and art direction are competent.

Verdict

Overall, The Rabbit House is an average horror drama that suffers from lack of novelty and weak promotion. Its box-office presence will likely be negligible.
