‘BERLIN’ REVIEW

Berlin (UA) by Berlin Studios and Yippee Ki Yay Motion Pictures is a thriller.

The bureau arrests Ashok Kumar (Ishwak Singh), a young deaf-mute guy, two wing officials, Kapil Mahajan (Ujjwal Chopra) and Mehta (Nitesh Pandey). The case is under direction of Jagdish Sondhi (Rahul Bose). Ashok Kumar is deaf and dumb, hence Sondhi invites Pushkin Verma (Aparshakti Khurana) to question him. Pushkin tutors the silent and deaf pupils. Wing officer J.V. Raman (Deepak Qazir Kejriwal) requests the two wing officers released even as the inquiry is under way. In exchange, he is ready to hand Sondhi custody of the woman (Anupriya Goenka) along with images depicting them in a compromising posture. For clear reasons, Sondhi would be better off custody of the woman and the pictures. Eventually, what happens?

The narrative Atul Sabharwal has created does not really captivate the audience. His script is not very logical. Why Ashok Kumar would be interested in risking his own life to save Pushkin Verma is unknown. All all, the drama seems hotch potch at multiple locations. Not even the climax would satisfy the viewers completely. The conversations of Atul Sabharwal are somewhat frequent.

As Pushking Verma, Aparshakti Khurana performs a great job. Ishwak Singh performs really well as Ashok Kumar. As Jagdish Sondhi, Rahul Bose is really good. As Kapil Mahajan, Ujjwal Chopra is okay. Anupriya Goenka stands out as the one who made personal contact with Sondhi. Jigar Mehta had moments like Satpal Dhingra. Prashant Singh helps Ram Narayan really well. Like Mehta, Nitesh Pandey is fair. Deepak Qazir Kejriwal fits the part of J.V. Raman really well. As the bureau head, Kabir Bedi is good in a little part. As the football coach, Sudhir Khandelwal; as the employment agent, Naveen Gupta; as the proprietor of a Berlin café, Nikolay Novomlinskiy; as Rajiv Gupta's agent; and as Anjali Gupta's agent Muskan Mehta do as asked. Others pass the test.

The direction of Atul Sabharwal is so-sus. The background music of K. is ordinary. The photography of Shreedutta Namjoshi is really poor. The functional action and stunt sequences by Vikram Dahiya Production design (by Sandeep Shelar and Ashok Lokare) is passable. Editing by Irene Dhar Malik may have been more precise.
