Story & Screenplay

Baaghi 4 follows Ronnie (Tiger Shroff), a young man struggling to cope with the loss of his girlfriend Alisha (Harnaaz Sandhu) in a car accident. As Ronnie recovers, everyone around him insists that Alisha never existed, pushing him to question his own sanity. Complications arise when Olivia/Prathishtha (Sonam Bajwa) enters his life, and secrets involving Chacko (Sanjay Dutt), his brother Jeetu (Shreyas Talpade), and a host of others unravel.

Sajid Nadiadwala’s story is packed with twists and keeps viewers guessing, especially in the first half. The screenplay, co-written with Rajat Arora, engages well pre-interval, but the post-interval portion is heavy on violence, which can be overwhelming for family audiences. The revelation of the central mystery lacks the punch it could have had. Dialogues by Rajat Arora are a highlight, balancing light-hearted moments with serious tension effectively.

Performances

  • Tiger Shroff excels as Ronnie, delivering strong action sequences, energetic dance moves, and solid dramatic moments.

  • Harnaaz Sandhu makes a glamorous and convincing debut as Alisha.

  • Sonam Bajwa is effective as Olivia/Prathishtha.

  • Sanjay Dutt leaves an impression as Chacko.

  • Shreyas Talpade is natural and entertaining as Jeetu.

  • Upendra Limaye delivers a remarkable performance as the investigating officer.

  • Supporting cast, including Sheeba Akashdeep Sabir, Mahesh Thakur, Saurabh Sachdeva, and many others, provide solid backup, though some roles are brief.

Direction & Technical Aspects

  • A. Harsha’s direction is good, keeping the audience engaged and maintaining suspense, though he carries stylistic echoes of Animal.

  • Music by Agaaz, Josh Brar, Salamat Ali Matoi, Mani Moudgill, Badshah, Payal Dev, Tanishk Bagchi, Ganesh Waghela, and others is tuneful and enjoyable.

  • Lyrics by Jagdeep Warring, Sameer Anjaan, and others are entertaining.

  • Choreography by Farah Khan, Ganesh Acharya, Bosco Leslie Martis, Raju Khan, and Adil Shaikh is visually appealing.

  • Background score by Sanchit Balhara, Ankit Balhara, and Shrey is impactful.

  • Cinematography by Swamy J. Gowda is excellent.

  • Action and stunts by Venkat, Kecha Khamphakdee, Stunt Siva, and Kevin Kumar are thrilling but extremely violent, which may alienate family audiences.

  • Production design by Tanvi Leena Patil is fine, and editing by Kiran Gowda and Nitin is sharp.

Final Verdict

Baaghi 4 is an average action thriller. While Tiger Shroff’s performance, the twists in the story, and the action sequences will appeal to mass audiences, the excessive and gruesome violence will deter women and family viewers. It is engaging in parts but falls short of being a universally appealing blockbuster.
