Film Review: BLOOD HORIZON (Marathi; A)

ree

Vaibhav Films’ Blood Horizon is a rural action saga about power, revenge, and survival.

Story & Screenplay: Set in drought-stricken Vidarbha, the film follows brothers Raghu (Sharad Kelkar) and Shankar (Siddharth Jadhav), who run a small transport business but get trapped in a feud between a corrupt MLA (Sayaji Shinde) and a local don (Upendra Limaye). When Shankar is brutally murdered, Raghu embarks on a violent quest for justice.

Prashant Jadhav’s story is predictable but the treatment is raw. Screenplay moves fast but slips into melodrama. Dialogues are powerful, filled with punch lines that will work with the masses.

Performances:

  • Sharad Kelkar is excellent, commanding every frame.

  • Siddharth Jadhav surprises with restraint, far removed from his comic roles.

  • Upendra Limaye and Sayaji Shinde are menacing as antagonists.

  • Amruta Subhash, as Raghu’s wife, delivers strong emotional moments.

Direction & Technicals:Mahesh Manjrekar directs with his trademark earthy style. Action choreography is brutal and exciting. Music by Ajit Parab is serviceable; background score by Amar Mohile is thunderous. Cinematography captures the rugged landscapes well. Editing is patchy at times.

Overall:A high-voltage masala entertainer for the masses, though lacking novelty.

Box Office:Will score in single-screen theatres and semi-urban Maharashtra.
