Film Review: Dil Awaara

Story & Screenplay

The film follows five friends who embark on a journey from Chandigarh to Spiti Valley. Along the way, they discover their hidden desires and confront insecurities.

While the setup promises potential for self-discovery and emotional resonance, Samar Singh Chauhan’s story and screenplay are weak, predictable, and clichéd. The drama lacks freshness and fails to engage viewers meaningfully. Even the dialogues are routine and uninspiring.

Performances

Performances are comparatively better here. Monica Sharma, Angad Hasija, Mintu Kapa, Aliya Hamidi, and Navdeesh Arora put in reasonably good efforts, but the script restricts their scope. The supporting cast is passable.

Technical Aspects

  • Direction: Samar Singh Chauhan’s direction is underwhelming and fails to elevate the weak writing.

  • Music: Composers Sunny Inder, Goldboy, Vindu Kinngra, Hey Crush, and Nabz deliver fair tracks, with lyrics by Kumaar, Youngveer, and Samar Singh Chauhan being one of the few positives.

  • Choreography: Nitin Arora’s picturisations are functional.

  • Background Score: Salil Dilip Amrute’s BGM is average.

  • Cinematography: Hardeep Singh’s camerawork is decent and captures locations well.

  • Editing: Vicky Chaudhary’s editing is loose and impacts pacing.

Verdict

Despite scenic backdrops and fair performances, Dil Awaara is bogged down by weak writing and uninspired narration. A missed opportunity at best.
