Film Review: THE VANISHING POINT (Punjabi; UA)

ree

Starline Productions’ The Vanishing Point is a mystery drama set in the hills of Himachal.

Story & Screenplay:Amrit (Diljit Dosanjh), a photographer, discovers a series of old photographs where people who appeared in them went missing soon after. As he investigates, he realises a dark secret tied to his own past.

Ramanjit Kaur’s story is original and gripping. Screenplay maintains intrigue but falters in the climax which feels rushed. Dialogues are effective.

Performances:

  • Diljit Dosanjh is superb, blending charm and intensity.

  • Wamiqa Gabbi, as a journalist, adds freshness.

  • Pavan Malhotra is menacing in a small but crucial role.

Direction & Technicals:Directed by Navdeep Singh (Manorama Six Feet Under), the film is atmospheric. Background score is haunting. Cinematography by Shanker Raman captures the misty mountains beautifully. Editing could have trimmed the second half.

Overall:Engaging and stylish mystery, though the climax doesn’t fully satisfy.

Box Office:Good chances in Punjab and urban centres; strong OTT potential.
