Story & Screenplay

The eighth and final instalment of the Mission: Impossible franchise, The Final Reckoning continues the story two months after Dead Reckoning Part One (2023). IMF agent Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) races against time to stop Gabriel (Esai Morales) from acquiring a dangerous AI program called ‘The Entity’.

Christopher McQuarrie and Erik Jendresen have crafted a screenplay that grips the audience from the start. While the first half is heavy with technical jargon and verbose exposition, nostalgia-packed callbacks to earlier films keep the viewers emotionally engaged. The second half is a non-stop adrenaline rush, featuring breathtaking sequences on the ocean and in the air. High-stakes moments, including a lab scene with a gravely injured Benji (Simon Pegg), Grace (Hayley Atwell), and Paris (Pom Klementieff), elevate the thrill to extraordinary levels. The final hour is a rollercoaster of nail-biting action that will encourage repeat viewings.
